Why we built this
She walked in wearing
the perfect boots.
I was in my early 30s, waiting to be seated at a restaurant, when a woman walked in wearing boots I immediately loved. I wanted a pair exactly like them but all I could do was stare. No way to search. No way to find them. The technology just didn't exist yet.
That moment stuck with me. Because it kept happening: a jacket on someone walking by, a lamp in a café, a bag spotted across a parking lot. Things I loved, with no way to instantly find them or buy them. VelvetSearch is the app I wished I'd had that day and so I built it.
